Michael Cottam, DMD, MS, FAAPD

Dr. Cottam graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, College of Dental Medicine.  He remained in Las Vegas to train in pediatric dentistry at UNLV and served as Chief Resident.  After completing residency training, Dr. Cottam taught clinical pediatric dentistry at Roseman University in South Jordan, UT, while owning and operating a private practice.  Specializing further in pediatric hospital care and education, Dr. Cottam affiliated with Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE, where he served as Chief of the Division of Dental Surgery, and Pediatric Residency Program Director.  During this time, he also held dual appointments at Thomas Jefferson University in the Departments of Oral Surgery and Pediatrics. Dr. Cottam is the inaugural Director of the Roseman University Dental Clinic in Summerlin, where he provided compassionate, individualized care for children with anxiety and medical challenges and directs the clinical education of students and residents in pediatric dentistry.
 
Dr. Cottam is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a site visitor for the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation.  His research interests lie at the interface of oral health with emergency medicine, infectious disease, and medical education.
