Richard M. Stevens, DMD. MBA
Clinical Professor of Dental Medicine

Dr. Stevens first became interested in orthodontics while in high school and his orthodontic treatment was being completed. He was managing a gas station and doing mechanical work, but his orthodontist encouraged him to become an orthodontist. Dr. Stevens graduated from the University of Utah in Medical Biology, and completed his professional training in Boston at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Stevens is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is a founding member and Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists. He has been active in several national, regional, state and local professional societies. Highlights include service as President of the Nevada State Society of Orthodontists, President of the Northeast Nevada Dental Society, and founding member and Vice-President of the Association of Lingual & Esthetic Orthodontists.

Some of Dr. Stevens’ professional contributions include publishing several papers on orthodontics, including topics on lingual appliances, adult orthodontics, and early treatment. Teaching review courses for the orthodontic section of the National Board Exams to dental students from Tufts, Harvard and Boston Universities, lab instructor for the orthodontic courses in the dental school curriculum at Tufts, and presenting clinical and continuing professional education courses. Dr. Stevens has also taught courses in all levels of rock climbing at Great Basin Community College, has been active in supporting Boy Scouts of America and other youth organizations that build character and integrity in young men and young women. To better serve the resident doctors and the patients at Roseman Dental’s orthodontic clinic, in 2019 Dr. Stevens Completed his MBA at Independence University/Stevens-Henager College.

Dr. Stevens finds orthodontics an interesting and progressive specialty that provides a very beneficial service. Dr. Stevens feels that the orthodontist is in an ideal position to reinforce a positive outlook on life as well as help patients gain greater self-confidence which can lead to improved relations in the social and employment arenas. The main reason Dr. Stevens specialized in orthodontics is because it provides a unique opportunity to do something for others, which will have a beneficial effect throughout their lives.

Outside his professional endeavors, Dr. Stevens enjoys acting as a subject matter expert and consultant in legal, clinical, and business matters. He is active in his church and spends as much time as he can outdoors with family and friends camping, climbing, hiking, hunting, fishing, water and snow skiing, motorcycling, cycling, and in the shooting sports. Mechanics, metal & wood working, and refurbishing items are additional interests.
